About Me:

Tammy Stoner received her MSW from Indiana University with a focus of study in families and mental health. She currently maintains a practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Georgia, counseling individuals, families and groups.
She researched for more than a decade, a model of applying teddy bears in counseling sessions to generate rapid breakthroughs with adults and children. She has developed a tool, simple to use, yet requiring clinical skill, to reach the heart of the matter in domestic violence, grief and loss, sexual abuse and virtually every problem faced by a health care, school or mental health treatment provider.
The play therapy method, titled the Teddy Bear Technique®, utilizes in its application a set of teddy bears organized for this method, named the MeBear Family. It is evidenced based, supported by decades of researched theory and design, and has been applied with hundreds of children and adults of every age, race, and gender.
Tammy consults with experts about how they can apply this innovative yet evidenced based play therapy tool to create rapid assessments and interventions at breakthrough speed.
She has published in trade journals and newspapers about the Teddy Bear Technique® and has appeared on television and radio. She currently consults with hospitals, schools and social welfare agencies in how they can apply the Teddy Bear Technique® to help clients get “unstuck,” engage the quiet and introverted and break through generational problems of abuse and neglect.
